Glen Alan

Studio Manager/Producer

Glen Alan, a graduate of the Humber College Music Program (1996) was first introduced to recording and engineering in 1998 when he studied recording with engineer and musician John Ferreira, who at the time was head of Cubase Technical Support for Steinberg Canada. With his musical background Glen learned quickly and soon was asked to engineer, produce and arrange the songs of other artists and bands he worked with. His keyboard, vocal and musical experience proved to be invaluable and over time his studio and recording clientele began to grow.

In 2005 while attending Harris Institute For The Arts as a part-time student Glen met and formed a friendship with Kevin Cameron and in a year's time they completed extensive renovations that expanded Find A Way's second recording studio location (originally located at 32 Monarch Park) into a fully treated multi-room recording studio space. When Kevin graduated from Harris in 2006 he was hired part-time as an engineer for Find A Way Studios and Glen made the jump from engineering to producing. Since that time Glen has produced hundreds of sessions at Find A Way Studios. In October 2012 Find A Way moved to its present studio location in Studio City at 75 Sherbourne which is an award winning multi-room recording facility designed world-renown studio designer Martin Pilchner.

A competent session singer, arranger and keyboardist himself, Glen is able to work with a wide range of instruments and styles to produce great results. His strong musical background allows Glen to speak easily to musicians and session players to get the best performance possible for his client. As a voice over artist Glen has been engaged by a number of Toronto filmmakers and a variety of small to large sized business clients including The NHL, Floorball Pro and Georgian Bowl.

Glen has collaborated with many accomplished musicians, songwriters, producers and arrangers including Taylor Ambrahamse, Dylan Bell, Chris Birkett, Tim Bovaconti, Bill Colgate, Michael Cooper, Paul Delong, John Dickie, Marc Dubois, Wendell Ferguson, Don Francks, Robert Graham, Steve Hunter, Elise Legrow, Leh-Lo, Charles James, Sterling Jarvis, Natalie MacMaster, Tony Nesbitt-Larking, Jackie Richardson, Karrnnel Sawitsky, Lenny Soloman, Julian Taylor and Suba Sankaran.

Greg Kolchinsky

Senior Mix Engineer

Originally from Russia, Greg Kolchinsky was involved in music from an early age. Greg studied voice and piano but didn’t catch the pop musical bug until he was 14 and heard the Beatles and began listening to Western music. It was hard to get your hands on good western music in the mid 80's in Russia. Greg also played in a Russian band who made a number of amateur recordings. Before emigrating to Canada in his early 20’s Greg studied sound for film.

When Greg arrived in Canada he went to recording school and upon graduating worked in Toronto as a live sound and freelance recording engineer. Within a couple years he had built his reputation and experience sufficiently to land a job as an engineer at Phase One Studios where he subsequently worked for over 7 years. In that time Greg was fortunate enough to work with the following great artists: Barenaked Ladies, Jann Arden, I Mother Earth, Treblecharger, Nelly Furtado, Jully Black, Sting, Leahy, Robi Botos, Vito Rezza, Peter Cardinali, Anne Murrray, Bruce Cockburn, Dawn Langstroth, Herbie Hancock, Hilario Duran, Shaye, Jesse Cook, Cardinall Offishall, LEN, Sean Lennon, Big Sugar, Andy Stochansky, Matt Dusk, Billy Ray Cyrus, Faith Chorale, Ian Thomas and many more.

Over the last 3 years, Greg has continued to expand his considerable experience and reputation as a sought after recording and mix engineer. In the fall of 2010 Greg was hired as an engineer at Find A Way Studios. Greg’s versatility allows him to take on all types of music projects including music for TV, radio and live recordings. Greg’s most recent clients include The Canadian Tenors, The Jersey Boys cast, Jesse Cook, Amy Sky, Mark Jordan, Anne Murray, Levon Ichkhanian, Robi Botos, Lenz Ent., Somerset Ent., Mark Masri, Colin Hunter, U of T Gospel Choir, David Clayton Thomas and many more.

Guillermo Subauste

Studio and Live Sound Engineer

Guillermo is a Sound Engineer from Lima, Peru. His interest in sound and music began at sixteen working for a national radio station. When he was seventeen he recorded his first album and began studying Sound Engineering. After completing his studies he worked at Soho Studios in Lima, recording albums and undertaking post production for TV and radio commercials.

In 2007 Guillermo received a work study scholarship at The Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada, where he collaborated with top producers in both studio and live sound for musicians such as Jane Bunnett, Michael Kaeshammer, The Bad Plus, Dave Douglas, and Yosvanni Terry. After two years in Banff, Guillermo returned to Peru and worked at Starfactory Peru, a recording studio where he recorded, mixed and mastered for several bands from their label’s catalogue. At this time he was also touring as the Front of House Engineer for the Peruvian band Adammo for audiences of up to 100,000 people. Adammo has received nominations for the Latin Grammys and the MTV Europe Music Awards, and was the recipient of an MTV Latin America Award.

Guillermo has also mixed bands including MXPX, Joey Cape (Lagwagon), Youth of Today, K’naan and more.

Now based in Toronto, Guillermo works as the Front of House engineer for The Sadies, touring with them in Canada, USA and Europe.

In this second year in Toronto, Guillermo has several projects ready, including his band’s first album, Dolly Shot, in which he plays drums and also records and is in charge of the mixing.

Nick Bonin

Senior Mix Engineer

Nick Bonin is a Recording/Mixing Engineer based out of Toronto. With his many years of recording experience, he currently splits his time three ways, working at the Canadian Broadcasting Corp, in the Humber College Bachelor of Music program, and as a freelance engineer. At the CBC, you can find Nick working on productions such as “Q”, the “First Play Live” recording sessions, and “Canada Live” recordings among other things. Due to the nature of his work at the CBC, Nick has had the opportunity to record a countless number of popular artists either in studio or in a live setting. He is also no stranger to the jazz world. As an engineer in one of the best jazz music schools in the country, Nick works side by side with a long list of distinguished peers in the genre. He has also spent some time at the Banff Centre for the Arts where he recorded and mixed international jazz and classical artists, and worked with an esteemed guest faculty. His credits include Juno award winning, and Juno nominated albums.

Sebastien Chorney

Music Producer and Recording/Mix Engineer

Sebastien has been recording music since longer than he can remember, and has been cutting and pasting sounds together since the days of tape, razor blades and scotch tape. After graduating from the production/engineering programme at the Harris Institute, Sebastien ran a recording studio business where he produced and developed a variety of music-themed projects, as well as corporate promotional material and documentary-style projects.

He moved on to co-found an interactive media consultancy, working primarily with film/tv production companies to promote their shows online in the then-nascent medium of podcasting. When not engineering at Find-A-Way, Sebastien works as an independent strategist and producer, focusing his attention on digital media initiatives in the areas of cultural promotion, ecotourism and e-learning. He is originally trained in classical guitar, but loves music in all its forms and can play 'Crazy Train' in any key.
