KC is an accomplished guitar player and band leader based out of Toronto, Canada. With a professional guitar player for a father, and a singer, with a background in Musical theatre as a mother, KC was surrounded by music at an early age and began playing guitar at 7 yrs old. He was leading, writing for and playing with bands by age 14. Throughout his teens he wrote and performed in his own bands, with styles ranging from rock, grunge, ska, punk, funk, prog-rock, jazz and reggae. At the age of 18, KC was invited to live and tour the western provinces of Canada with a professional Jamaican reggae band called Strugglah. KC played, lived and toured heavily with the band for 4 months. One of the highlights of this time was opening up for the Legendary Jimmy Cliff at the Jack Singer Concert hall in Calgary and the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver.

When KC returned to Toronto he got accepted to the Jazz guitar program at Humber College, where he studied for 3 years. During this time he began to perform professionally as a jobbing guitar player. Since then, KC has worked as a guitar player in many groups, ranging in styles such as Jazz, Rock, Folk, Funk, R&B, Blues, Reggae, Country, African and Gospel. Through these different experiences, he’s also performed in Africa, Trinidad, and all across the U.S. and Canada. Through his guitar playing, KC has opened for or shared the stage with acts like The Black Eyed Peas, Jim Cuddy, Rihanna, Jimmy Cliff, Jack Bruce, Talib Kweli, Lee Fields, Lettuce, Alanis Morissette and Finger Eleven. KC also played and toured for Canadian Idol winner Brian Melo, with whom he performed on MTV canada to a national audience.

KC is an established singer/songwriter in Toronto, having written and recorded 100+ original songs in his career thus far. Since 2007, he has been the leader/singer/guitar player of an 8 piece band called KC Roberts & The Live Revolution (KCLR). KCLR has released 5 full length records, played festivals and shows all over Canada and the U.S, Sold over 3,000 CD’s in Japan, acquired hundreds of thousands of youtube views on their channel, and have a large and loyal fan base across the country. A large portion of KCLR’s fans are musicians, who enjoy the bands writing, arrangements and musicianship. The band unique approach, as well as KC’s writing and arranging, inspire many of the young and older musicians to pursue their instruments and playing in deeper ways. KC is the principal songwriter and musical director of the band, having written most of the horn lines, bass lines, grooves, melodies and chordal harmony and all the lyrics and guitar parts in the band’s catalogue. They just recently finished a 20 day west coast tour starting in Edmonton and ending in L.A. KC’s music is regularly played on CBC radio.

KC has been teaching professionally since 2004. Previously, KC taught at Bloor West Music studios (in Bloor West Village) for 7 years, where he had the opportunity to work with people of all ages and experience level. Through the years, he has developed economical ways to help students make leaps in their learning and ability. Now KC teaches at the Toronto Guitar School and Mint Music both as a private and group lesson instructor.
